8th Street Block Party Returns to Greenwich Village This Weekend

The 8th Street Block Party returns this weekend in Greenwich Village from 2pm to 6pm on 8th Street between 5th and 6th Avenue. Organizers have lined up live music by the Village Trip along with a silent disco, street yoga sessions, face painting and kids games.

July brings steady demand for outdoor programming in the neighborhood as residents seek evening and weekend options before the September art season begins. The block party fits into a pattern of free or low-cost gatherings that draw both locals and visitors to the same stretch of 8th Street used for earlier editions.

Additional summer screenings

Washington Square Park hosts Films on the Green, a French film festival, while Hotel Hugo runs Rooftop Cinema on Mondays and Hudson RiverFlicks screens movies on Fridays at Pier 46. These weekly events continue through the summer without requiring advance tickets in most cases.

The Washington Square Outdoor Art Exhibit is listed for September 2-4 and September 9-10 with over 50 artists selling paintings, sculptures and jewelry. That schedule gives residents a clear marker for when sidewalk displays return after the current block-party period.

Venues and monthly cleanups
