South Bronx United Opens New Clubhouse With Indoor Pitch

South Bronx United has opened a new clubhouse on River Avenue near Yankee Stadium. The facility includes an indoor mini-pitch and classrooms intended to expand the organization's youth development programs that use soccer.

Facility Supports Local Youth Programs

The clubhouse addition allows South Bronx United to increase access to structured activities for young participants in the Bronx. This comes as other sports venues across the borough face different paths forward, from planned construction to decisions about older sites.

Recent Changes at Other Bronx Venues

The athletic facility at John F. Kennedy High School, which features synthetic turf and LED lights, opened to the broader community this month after a renovation completed in 2023. Separately, a new recreation center is planned for Walter Gladwin Park in Tremont, with work set to begin in summer 2026. At Floyd Bennett Field, the Aviator Sports and Events Center remains open for events while ownership talks continue with the National Park Service. Van Cortlandt Park Stadium has been called beyond repair and is slated for demolition once funding is secured.

Next Steps for Expanded Access

With the River Avenue clubhouse now available, South Bronx United can continue building out its soccer-based youth offerings in the area. The organization has stated the space will help grow participation in its programs.
