The policy also expands mobile outreach teams that visit Washington Square Park three times weekly to assist unhoused individuals with identification documents and benefit enrollment. Working parents in the area may apply for subsidized childcare slots at two Village-based providers that received new contracts under the update.
The city's Department of Social Services budget paper shows $1.2 million redirected to District 2 organizations for these services. Last year the same department recorded 3,150 case openings across the district for housing-related support, according to the same public record.
