Studio Openings for Public Engagement

DUMBO Open Studios is an annual event where over 150 artists open their private studios to the public for behind-the-scenes access and conversations. Participants gain direct views into ongoing work and speak with artists in their workspaces.

Regular Gallery Programming

The neighborhood hosts a monthly free event called the First Thursday Gallery Walk, where galleries stay open late for exhibitions, artist talks, and live performances. This recurring format allows consistent entry to current shows without cost.

Public Installations Across the Area

Public art is present on nearly every corner, supported by the Downtown Brooklyn + DUMBO Art Fund which funds installations and accessibility projects. The fund maintains visible works throughout streets and public spaces.

The former annual DUMBO Arts Festival, which ran from 1997 to 2014 and attracted over 200,000 visitors, is no longer active, but the current arts scene remains vibrant through gallery walks and open studios.
